Links for the Little Ones

Some fun links for kids:
Incredibooks has book reviews for kids, written by kids (and probably a few creepy middle-aged men).
Story Nory makes iPod ready, free narrated kids tales. Pass long car rides with these fairly tales and modern classics. Also some good reviews in the archives.
PBSKids has games, stories, and music based on the programs.
Learn to Draw with these instructional books. The whole books are free on-line.

Also, look at this trippy alphabet clip. Think this is from the 70s?

Thanks to Chris Watk for the pic!

I'm the dad of half of the incredibooks kids and I assure you, they are for real. They are a group of friends from two home-schooling families ranging in age from 10 to 16. That's really them in the photo on the about page.

All of the kids love to read, write, and make movies. (You can read about their movie adventures on their other site, Phantom Moose Films. They're a creative bunch.

They came up with the Incredibooks name, designed the header graphics, chose and customized the WordPress theme, and did most of the set up themselves. They do their own writing and editing and make their own decisions as to what books to review and how to run the site. They actually enjoy sharpening their skills by checking each other's spelling and grammar.

All of the kids know at least a little HTML and some are dabbling in programming with PHP scripting.

I and the dad from the other family only help out when they need advice or technical assistance beyond their current knowledge. (Okay, we're middle-aged, but we don't think we're creepy.) We generally stay out of things unless they ask for help. When we do help, we try to point them in the right direction to learn how to do it on their own.

We're working on putting a movie online right now. It will be a short clip from iSundae to start and more to follow if everyone likes it.
